Christmas

I woke up on a cold December morning. I quickly woke my sisters and parents. As I walked down the stairs I grew anxious. When I reached the bottom of the stairs I mad a run for it. The lights on the tree sparkled and shimmered, I stared in awe as I looked at the mounds of presents. One by one I watched my family members open their presents. Once we were all finished I was happy but sad, because the only thing I really wanted, had not come. Once my mom said ” I guess thats everything” in a cold shaky sarcastic voice. My dad answered back ” not everything” once again in a sarcastic voice. He whistled and a puppy came running toward me.

I Am From…

I am from my stuffed dog that guards my bed when I’m not there,
from mom and dad,
I am from the house at the end of the street,
the lit candles on mantle,
I am from the rose bushes in front of my house,
the great oak tree in my back yard,
I am from Christmas and Thanksgiving,
from sisters and cousins,
I’m from giving and receiving,
and from a big neighborhood,
I’m from Santa and the Easter bunny,
And Johnny Appleseed,
I’m from the Fourth of July,
I’m from Texas and blue bonnets,
from pancakes and waffles,
from my great grandfather that served in the military,
from great story’s ,
From pictures hung in halls and pictures hung on walls.

My Dog

During the summer I was at my ranch with my dog, Briley. We were trying to find my sister who was on a jeep. My dog was really out of shape and had a liver problem so, he couldn’t breathe well. We went off to find them and my dog, was running beside me. When we got back I found out that my sister was already back. Then he laid down and he never got back up. We then took him to the vet where he died. From this I learned that you don’t let dogs run for more than a minute in the blazing hot weather.
